I must admit that we were pretty happy when the fine people at Desperados hit us up to help them promote their Holi Boarding campaign. Here at Whiteout, we love both beer and creative shooting and the crew in Davos added a storyline that seemed rather clever.
For the uninitiated, a Holi festival is a Hindu tradition, meant to welcome the spring through the sharing of colors and love. While we certainly hope spring does not come to the alps anytime soon, we can easily get behind the the concept of Holi Boarding. See for yourself…
On a side note, we’ve been saying for a long time that there needs to be more alcohol in snowboarding. Not that there’s a lack of partying in our scene. On the contrary, drinking and snowboarding have a well documented love affair. But sadly, it’s been over a decade since the alcohol industry took a step backwards and left snowboarding in the hands of the energy drinks.
Don’t get us wrong. We’re not advocating riding drunk, but we do highly recommend a few friendly beers after a long day in the mountains. And that’s why we’ve alway backed booze over energy drinks. The marketing is just more honest. No one ever said that alcohol will make you ride better, but some brands are quick to claim that their product will “give you wings”. Yeah right… only if “wings” is a euphemism for heart palpitations.
For the sake of transparency, it’s worth mentioning that this is a paid partnership between Whiteout and Deperados. But you can be sure we wouldn’t do something like this for a product that we don’t like. And we’re certainly not here to preach. So in the end it’s up to you. Drink Water. Drink Beer. Drink Caffeine. Do it in the measure that makes sense for you. Stay creative, hydrated and above all, enjoy snowboarding!
