After a heavy round of premieres, “We Finally Met” finally dropped. Watch it again here and then scroll on for a little interview with Jeremy Bucher about how MWNAC’s second movie came together.
Hey Jeremy, “We Finally Met” is finally online. Congrats to you and the crew! Now that you’ve had some time to digest it, how do you feel about your second movie?
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m really happy with how the film turned out. Editing it was quite challenging since Amon, Eliot, and I decided to work on it together. It turned out that we all had different visions for the film, which wasn’t easy to manage. However, I believe this made the movie even better, as diverse perspectives spark new ideas. I’m also relieved that the film is finally online now. With a total of four premieres — all of which were incredibly well-received — it was exhausting… but also an amazing experience!
How did you decide on the name?
Even though it’s our second film, it felt like our first real one. Last year, Livia joined us halfway through, and Amon wasn’t involved at all. But this time, we filmed together as a group of five from the very beginning, and we became close friends with everyone. It truly felt like we found our groove, which is why we called it “We Finally Met.”
I guess this was your first time traveling for a project. How did filming in Finland compare to filming in Switzerland?
Yes, it really was, and it was also my first time in Finland. I have to say, it feels completely different from Switzerland. You feel more free and it seems like you can ride more without immediately being kicked out. However, we all massively underestimated the cold. For 14 days, it was minus 20 degrees — absolutely freezing. It didn’t snow once during that time, which meant everything was basically just ice everywhere. But overall, the trip was super cool. We had a great time together, and the van-life vibe was truly sick!
Tell me the story behind 3 tricks that really stand out to you.
Definitely Livia’s ender. We arrived at this spot, and we were all pretty intimidated — it was huge and, most of all, steep. But Livia quickly decided she wanted to try riding it. We set everything up, and as I pulled out my camera, I realized the battery was dead — even though I had supposedly charged it the night before. So there we were, with no camera except for Migi’s small camcorder. The camcorder wasn’t great, but Livia decided to hit the spot anyway, and it ended up being the ender of the video. Big up to Livia — that was absolutely incredible!
The second clip is the front board on the down-flat-down rail in Helsinki by Andrin. He landed that in about 10 tries, and the rail was massive and seriously scary. On the right side, it was almost a close-out, meaning he couldn’t afford to land too far to the right or he’d end up on the rail. Respect to Andrin!
The third spot is also from Andrin, where he did the cab 270 pretzel 270. It came out of nowhere, and none of us could believe it. He nailed it in about five tries. Andrin is just the best!
What’s your plan for this season?
We’ll be filming another video with MWNAC — actually, thanks to the last storm, we’ve already started! I also want to get Public Snowboards into all the core shops across Switzerland, as I’m handling the distribution for Public. Additionally, I’m looking forward to filming more park videos with MWNAC — those are always the most fun!
Sounds good! Anything else that you’d like to add?
Thanks for this interview and for everything you do for the snowboard scene. Big shout-out to the crew and to everyone who made this possible! Snowboarding is amazing!
